Competition, pressure to win, sex, cheating, immaturity, anger, substance abuse, the need for advice and affirmation from elders—these are just some of the issues that gnaw at men because they are not discussed with others and, thus, never get resolved in a healthy way. A sensitive and thorough writer, Maggie Hamilton provides a solid overview of men’s challenges from the time they’re conceived to late adulthood. The research will promote more empathy than men usually get. Credit for much of this impact goes to narrators Dino Marnika, who delivers quotes with great sensitivity from the men interviewed, and Marie-Louise Walker, who handles the rest of the program with a lovely speaking style and audible respect for the material.
