This collection of radio features is an eclectic and, at times, charming set of stories about animals and people. Some are funny, like the one about the dog that got intoxicated licking toads and eventually got addicted. Others are poignant, like the one about the woman who inherited a parrot when her mother died. Others are just odd, like the one about the drive-up boar semen dealer. All come from features on National Public Radio programs from 1988 to 2006. As audiobook listeners know, the title comes from the concept of stories you can't turn off.
