Wilson tries to tell all about her life as a CIA operative but is thwarted by CIA censorship. Her memoir--which presents her early years as a trainee, her European assignments, her marriage to Ambassador Joe Wilson, and the destruction of her career after being "outed" by Robert Novak--is so heavily redacted by the CIA that listening becomes a chore. The censored sections of the book are depicted by a low, aggravating bleep, which in the early chapters occurs every few minutes. The saving grace is the afterword by reporter Laura Rozen; her long, compelling bio of Wilson, her years in the CIA, and the aftermath is almost bleepless. In order to fully appreciate Wilson's own account, the afterword should be listened to first. M.T.B. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 08]
