Bradford Keeney uses "ecstatic movement and sound" as a healing modality, but those unfamiliar with his methods may find this audio course perplexing. This production simply plunges into a demonstration of the practice--without any explanatory preamble. It begins with erratic drumming alternating with Keeney's gritty voice whispering New-Age clichés. Then Keeney begins grunting and groaning to the beat. Without instructions on what shaking is, how to practice it, or how to use the CDs, the recording comes off as an indulgent performance, rather than an instructional program. The disparity between the vocal and instrumental volumes is also problematic. Extremely loud drum beats and piano chords alternate with Keeney whispering, making much of what he says inaudible.
