JULIE AND ROMEO is an enterprising love story about two rival families who own flower shops, the son and daughter from each who ignore family rivalries to be together, and the inevitable clash of households when the families discover the budding romance. Jeanne Ray does an admirable job of performing her own work. While the story is not entirely an original, Ray still manages to breathe fresh life into the Shakespeare-inspired tale by por-traying the hero and heroine as professional adults. Her genuine affection for the characters she's created comes across in her reading. Listeners are drawn in, if nothing else than to hope the ending is happier than its literary prototype's!
