ALICE'S STORIES: BIRTHDAY PIG, WORLD RECORD, AND SHOOTING STAR

by | Read by Nerys Hughes

Children Ages 6+ • 3.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

Nerys Hughes animates Alice's tribulations in this diverting collection of three stories. Huges depicts 8-year-old Alice with real affection and with understanding for her numerous predicaments. Alice's sister, Rosie, is also memorable for her mischievous personality. Hughes captures Rosie's defiance and malapropisms with perfect ease. The author's humorous portrayal of family drama in high gear is deftly depicted by Hughes. The family dialogue is easy to follow as Hughes differentiates each character through accent and pacing. Further, the family’s squabbles and jokes make audio a great choice for these stories. The only negative is the audible breathing throughout. Nevertheless, Hughes's connection with her characters creates an appealing production. C.A. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2009]
