THE YOUNG ADULT CLASSICS: HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES

Conan Doyle's novella of the fog-enshrouded moors is one of his most well known. Holmes and Dr. Watson are enlisted to solve a mystery involving a curse, a "hound from hell," and a family inheritance. Holmes is, as usual, two steps ahead of everyone else, much to Watson's delight. Similarly delightful is the quality of this production. David Timson, who has narrated the entire Holmes series for Naxos’s unabridged collection, seems to have been transported directly from old-time radio. His warm, inviting voice carries all the right tones for the creation of suspense and for the suspension of disbelief. A great listen for a cold winter night near the fireplace.
