Kate Forbes’s dramatic narration and powerful characterizations give credibility to the Michelangelus cult, a group of madmen determined to kill all things ugly. The story opens with an explosion at the Conklin Art Gallery, which kills eight people. With an effortless-sounding narration, Forbes depicts Hummingbird, a carefree aspiring artist who is able to identify the bomber. Forbes authentically captures Hummingbird’s fear when she receives threatening recordings left outside her door. With chilling tones of madness Forbes depicts the sadistic cult leader. She also excels at portraying a mentally challenged teen with fragmented personalities named Kenny. Forbes’s interpretation of Rogers's characters and plot twists will fully engage listeners.
