THE SNOW QUEEN

Rarely does one come across a listening experience so original and enticing. New musicals are rare indeed and this adaptation from the New York State Theatre Institute is a marvelous hybrid combining Jonathan Pryce's narration with a dramatic stage production. The clear story line, derived from Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen," has been updated to thoroughly modern repartee and enhanced with great songs, more spoken than sung. The program creates engaging characters--Crow; Croakella, the crow's wife; and Boj, the Snow Queen's polar bear henchman--each drawn with great vitality in word and song.
