STRANGE IMAGES OF DEATH

Barbara Cleverly paints a descriptive and atmospheric story of a group of English artists who descend on Provence in 1926 to paint, drink, play, and possibly commit murder. Narrator Terry Wale portrays British and French characters of many ages and stations in an engaging and lively style. His rendering of Cleverly's many French quotes and names adds to listeners' pleasure and conveys a feeling of being there. Scotland Yard Commander Joe Sandilands is unwittingly dragged in to investigate the defacement of a 600-year-old statue when he drops his niece off at the estate to join her dad. Joe's responsibility escalates when a beautiful model is murdered. Listeners are treated to short lessons in history, geography, and art and mouthwatering descriptions of food.
