CRIME ZERO

by | Read by Paul Hecht

Mystery & Suspense • 11.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1999

Paul Hecht performs this high-tech thriller about a plot to "improve" the genetic structure of humankind by a worldwide infectious disease attack. Author Cordy adroitly explores the "playing God" problem inherent in biotechnology, as well as the question of whether male aggressiveness is the main threat to mankind or its inventive spark. Hecht nicely brings out the internal struggles of the protagonists (a male FBI agent and a female scientist), but it would be impossible to do the same for the book's chief villain, who is one-dimensionally evil, or good, depending on one's point of view. Hecht's level delivery is perfect for explaining the technological threats and parries that drive this kind of book. K.C. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/JUL 01]
