TO HURT OR TO HEAL The Contest Over Crime and Punishment

First aired by the Canadian Broadcast Company, this program examines crime and punishment. While there are references to the Canadian criminal justice system, the series, which focuses on the concept of restorative justice, examines issues of interest to anyone concerned with this social issue. David Cayley's text is sharply written and narrated well for a nonactor. Cayley interviews participants in the criminal justice system, as well as advocates and critics of restorative justice. The interviewees are not professional actors, but their voices come through strongly and clearly. Moreover, beautiful selections of classical music punctuate the text.
