A spellbinding whodunit by this first-time author provides the perfect vehicle for its reader, Dick Hill, to demonstrate his versatile talents. Until the very last line is spoken, the listener is challenged to decide who really killed Rachael’s husband. As Marty, Rachael’s lover, is arrested and tried for the murder, the listener is treated not only to believable courtroom drama, but an equally captivating reading performance. As the trial proceeds, Hill shifts from counsel to witness to judge with ease. At the same time, he shares Marty’s inner thoughts about the trial and memories of the night in question as his legal status worsens with each moment. Hill’s deliberate style can be dramatic or flippant as the character requires. While there is really no action in this work, Hill’s exciting narration is truly a virtuoso performance.
