THE GENERAL'S MISTRESS

Narrator Arika Rapson's powerful voice and precise diction reflect the voice of Elsme and her journey from noblewoman to courtesan. Rapson effectively conveys the story's male and female voices as she captures the fine line that exists between love and lust. Her low tones unabashedly evoke the story's steamy elements, while her pronunciation of most foreign names is credible, except for her mispronunciation of the common French name "Michel." Her mostly smooth reading is disrupted at times when transitioning between the dialogue and attributions.
