Author Max Frankel reads his book with emotion and sensitivity. Just hearing the story of what his mother did to emigrate with her Jewish family from Germany during WWII makes the whole experience worthwhile. Another moving scene made poignant by the author narration is his experience of the naturalization ceremony, which juxtaposes his recitation of the oath and his own concurrent thoughts. Bits of this gifted writer's poetry add another dimension because of the feeling put into its presentation. The quality of this seamless abridgment tempts one to wish that all of this Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist's autobiography had been included.
