Deaver sounds like he is sitting at the fireplace telling stories about a friend. In this case, that friend was a California governor and U.S. president. Presenting a saintly portrait of Reagan, this is hagiography, not biography; Deaver speaks only of episodes about Reagan and aspects of his character.
