LIFE LESSONS

While comforting and connecting with the dying, these two seasoned experts learned something about living. People near death have a better handle on what's important, and, in a nutshell, it's all about connecting with people and being there for them. It's not about making our loved ones what we want them to be; being obsessed with our guilt, anger, or importance; protecting our isolation; or avoiding commitment and connection with others. It's about just BEING THERE so that the people we love can experience us fully and not be alone. The advice on being present every moment is as well stated and illustrated with stories as any I've heard on the subject.
