TRUE CRIME

by | Read by William Dufris

Mystery & Suspense • 12.2 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1995

TRUE CRIME places the listener on Death Row in the company of Frank Beachum during his last 17 hours and 40 minutes. Steven Everett is to interview Beachum, covering the assignment for a co-worker at the St. Louis newspaper where they work. Everett's obsessive pursuit of murder-scene discrepancies seems his only redeeming quality. William Dufris is terribly convincing as the philandering, duplicitous journalist. Dufris gives Beachum a troubled voice that earns sympathy. In addition, Klavan offers many tormented, often weak men and worse women. Dufris portrays all with different voices and is especially whiny, sulky, or austere with the women. Listeners will be strapped down with Beachum until his last minute despite the depravities related by Dufris. R.N. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/ MAR 02]
