Ken Marks reads this Western, which takes place during the Great Depression, with a measured, elegant style that perfectly suits the work. Memorable characters like Fenton Pardee, Ty Hardin, Cody Jo, as well as the setting of the Montana mountains, are lovingly described by Wyman and carefully rendered in Marks's resonant tones. Marks pours emotion and drama into the challenging situations that evolve as cowboys take greenhorns into the mountains, where they encounter bears, wild cats, and snowstorms.
