Broadway celebrity Len Cariou, best known for his Tony award-winning performances in “A Little Night Music” and “Sweeney Todd,” as well as his other stage roles from “King Lear” to “Copenhagen,” may seem an unexpected choice to read Michael Connelly’s Los Angeles-based police procedurals. However, this is brilliant casting. Cariou’s reading of THE NARROWS follows Connelly’s CITY OF BONES and LOST LIGHT , for which he won a 2004 Audie. Len Cariou successfully meets the “audiobook-challenge” of having to play all the roles. Len perfectly captures Connelly’s lead character—the gruff, independent, and intriguingly complex Harry Bosch—and strikes just the right note with the others as well, understanding and coloring each without overplaying them.
