THE CLASSICAL ECONOMISTS

This superb documentary uses actors and a well-known narrator to throw light on a dismal science. The program makes both personalities and topics come alive in a brilliantly presented summary of the history of economic thinking. The narrator, Louis Rukeyser (Wall Street Week), alternates with actors to give a vivid picture of ideas and men--Adam Smith, Thomas Robert Malthus, David Ricardo, John Stuart Mill and others.
