With a deep and serious voice, Michael Prichard offers a solid reading of this work, which describes possible foreign policy scenarios and gives an account of the Clinton administration's foreign policy. Lake, a national security advisor to President Clinton, presents fictional situations involving terrorism, peacekeeping missions, and regional conflicts, as well as explanations of Clinton-era decisions. Lake's writing is sometimes stiff, but Prichard does the best he can. Prichard easily moves between the fiction and nonfiction elements, although he's better--because the text is better--when presenting the nonfiction parts. M.L.C.
