CONSPIRACY IN DEATH

Eve Dallas has two loves--her job as a police lieutenant and her zillionaire husband, Roarke. The former is threatened when a fellow officer files a complaint about Eve in the midst of an investigation. Eve desperately wants to find out who is behind a string of murders in which flawed human organs are taken. It's 2057, and artificial organs are readily available--what's the point? This is the eighth in a series, all read by Susan Ericksen, so she has Eve's caffeinated character well in hand. She keeps up the steam through the verb-driven plot, captures Roarke's roguish manner and Irish accent, and seems to have adopted Eve's feisty, high-pressure, take-no-prisoners attitude as her own.
