A SCENT OF SCANDAL

Rose, an aromatherapist whose home "smells like a tart's handbag," moves into 5 Lavender Hill to escape a relationship. When Dan Spikenard arrives from Builders' Bottom to repair the chimney, the scent of scandal wafts into the consciousness of 75-year-old Anise Weston. Narrating with the skills of a full cast, Jennifer Van Dyck moves easily among the quirky characters and their snappy dialogue. When Cassia is discovered in handcuffs, when Anise falls from a ladder while spying with binoculars, when Hugh gets the "cold spoon" treatment, Van Dyck dispenses the characters and events with the fluid timing of a stand-up comic.
