CONQUERING ADVERSITY

A leadership consultant and former HR executive emerged from the devastating death of his pregnant wife to create a well-crafted strategy for dealing with trauma at home and at work. His six strategies--affirmation, expectation, communication, locomotion, collaboration, and celebration--are explained in the context of how the author and his son dealt with their loss. Applying these personal lessons to an organizational context at first comes across as a stretch, but the result is effective in both realms--a softly told lesson about keeping your balance that sounds human, credible, and achievable for anyone who wants a more emotionally integrated and fulfilling life.
