[Editor's Note: This is a combined review with DJ SPANISH.]--These beginner language programs contain the same material; they introduce basic words and phrases in dialogue and songs, as if on a radio station, complete with ads. The pop songs are catchy, the accents good, and the voices attractive. Translations are not always exact, but in any case, these programs can only supplement a language program--alone they teach little. Their content is geared to the interests and experiences of high schoolers, especially romance; some parents or schools may disapprove of occasional mild suggestiveness. This method should get information painlessly into student memories, as long its unpredictable audience doesn't find the transparent attempt to engage teenage concerns "lame."
