All the tellers are women, offering a good range of style and voice. Gayle Ross's high, thin voice telling a Cree story "The Skeleton Woman" is a contrast to Kathryn Windham's rich, vibrant voice in "The Hole That Will Not Stay Filled." Laura Simms presents a magnificent snake in her tale "The Woodcutter." While the dialect in "Dead Aaron" is a somewhat difficult to understand, relistening helps.
