AMADANS

by | Read by Hugh Lee

Children Ages 4-6 • 2.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2004

Hugh Lee's light Irish accent is perfect for this silly adventure, which draws Jimmy, his neighbor, Nita, and Jimmy's granddad into an alternate universe, www.amadansanonymous.com, via a computer screen. The threesome is needed to help the Amadans recover their powers. Lee's monster performance is just scary enough, and his granddad transforms effectively from meek oldster to rip-roaring senior. Vocally the youngsters are on target, but the voices of the Amadans have little consistency, ranging from grating to squeaky to soft-spoken. Lee's narration makes the bizarre plausible, pulling listeners in so they root for the humans to pull their new Amadan friends back from the brink.
