KNITTING

When Sandra comes to the aid of a woman who is bent over the lifeless form of a man who has collapsed, little do any of them know how their lives are about to be transformed. KNITTING is a novel of interwoven fibers and characters: newly widowed and emotionally frozen Sandra, homeless (by choice) Cliff, and eccentric Martha. The action of knitting is about to warm each: through exhibit, through the mastery of demons, and through love. Narrator Beverley Dunn is artful. She moves about modern-day Adelaide, Australia, bristling as one woman comes too close to the other and playful as mischievous Cliff. Supporting characters are distinctive in voice and personality.
