In her usual style Brashares moves between their stories, and Angela Goethals's enthusiastic reading tracks the lively dialogue and fast-moving developments of the four girls' last summer together after their first year in college. Bridget goes on a dig in Turkey with an attractive, married archaeology professor, Tibby struggles with a pregnancy scare, Carmen has a surprising acting success, and Lena falls for a fellow artist.
