With a folksy tone, Tom Stechschulte brings to Katz's Bedlam Farm series a quality of genuine Americana, the kind that doesn't get much attention these days. Despite the hard work and the constant diligence a farm requires, DOG DAYS invites listeners to put aside urban cacophony for hard-won rural harmony. One can't imagine a better narrator for the stories of life on Katz's farm in upstate New York than Stechschulte. His down-home gravelly voice enfolds listeners in a genial embrace. Stechschulte relates Katz's efforts to deal with cows, donkeys, chickens, a rooster, a cat, four dogs, and a flock of sheep, frequently with the excellent help of local experts and the constant support of his wife, Paula, who visits on weekends.
