LAST SEEN LEAVING

by | Read by Kevagne Kalisch

Mystery & Suspense • 9.25 hrs • Unabridged • © 2006

Still mourning the death of her husband, a pilot, in a plane crash twenty years earlier, Anne discovers her estranged daughter, Miranda, is missing in the East. She drives cross-country to investigate. Miranda is actually working at a beach resort with an odd assortment of friends--who may include a serial killer. Narrator Kevagne Kalisch navigates vocally between mother and daughter. Anne is vulnerable but determined; Miranda, footloose and fun-loving. Kalisch defines her characters with timbre, voice level, and inflection and makes several minor players--Anne's husband's best friend, a revival preacher, and a detective who helps Anne--stand out. Not all the plot threads come together in the end, but that doesn't mar this well-read production. J.B.G. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 07/ JAN 08]
