In this installment of a well-written British police series, DS Fry and DC Cooper discover a mystery that leads to the wreckage of a WWII bomber and a long-festering grievance. The usually reliable Christopher Kay, who has read some of Booth's earlier work, offers a somewhat flat performance here. His delivery sounds muddy, and his characterizations unclear. Conversations are sometimes hard to follow, and accents shift with the scene. This is a listenable book, but not up to Kay's usual par.
