Sarah Dessen's adventure is enlivened by Ali Ahn's favorable narration. Her youthful voice brings freshness to the production as she narrates 18-year-old Remy Starr's transformation from skeptic to true believer in love. Remy dates only college-bound boys who are rich and meticulous with their appearance. She also has a reputation for dumping them before things become too entangled. Then, while planning her mother's fifth wedding, Remy meets Dexter, a musician. His overly confident manner and disheveled appearance are everything she hates, yet Dexter finds a way into Remy's heart. The mix of male and female voices in the story could prove challenging, but Ahn does a fair job of imbuing each one with a distinctive personality. Dessen fans will approve.
