Well-known science fiction author Bova had the misfortune of publishing this just before the fall of the Soviet Union, so the Soviets persist in his near-future vision of an emerging world police force engaged in preventing wars. There is a gripping sequence aboard a space station, with much action on the ground, as well. Theodore Bikel brings a profound authority to his reading. His sonorous bass voice does not admit contradiction: One dares not disbelieve the narrative. He is a master of accents and here uses his talent to its fullest effect.
