FRIED GREEN TOMATOES AT THE WHISTLE STOP CAFÉ

Lorna Raver gives a stellar performance of this bittersweet, funny novel featuring the inhabitants of a Southern railroad town in the period between the 1920s and the 1980s. Raver expertly portrays each character and seamlessly switches between them. She becomes the Southern tomboy, the black porter, the hobos riding the rails during the Depression, the preacher's daughter, the lovely old woman in a nursing home, the Southern good old boys, and the series of interesting women whose relationships and life experiences form the core of this novel.
