Joyce Bean sees audiobooks from "both sides of the glass." A veteran narrator, Joyce has been recording audiobooks since 1989, but she has also moved into the director's role at the Brilliance Audio studios in Michigan. "It's a totally new perspective," Joyce says. "I like to be upbeat as a director, encouraging the reader, and I know how to suggest ideas or character." Actors increasingly learn the dual roles of director and narrator, and since setting up a home studio, Joyce puts both to use. Joyce has recorded dozens of audiobooks by top romance authors including Sandra Brown, Julie Garwood, Karen Robards, and Barbara Delinsky. She also has had great success with romantic suspense, particularly Linda Howard's books, such as KISS ME WHILE I SLEEP, co-narrated with Dick Hill and an Audies and Earphones winner. In 2007, Joyce got double acclaim for Karen Marie Moning's fantasy DARKFEVER, an Audies Finalist in the Romance category and in Best Female Narration. An avid listener, Joyce enjoys other narrators' performances as part of her own craft. Listeners should also note her recordings of Cody McFadyen's THE FACE OF DEATH and Nancy Horan's LOVING FRANK.
