THE FINAL DAYS The Last, Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House

This journalistic indictment is relentless, and seems intent on discrediting everything the Clintons did, beginning in 1993. Narrator Kimberly Schraf does well with the material. Her strong, self-assured voice captures every ironic knife twist in Olsen's repertoire. Scharf is, by turns, funny, sarcastic, earnest, and outraged as she relates the author's account of the First Couple's escapades. At times, she's a bit too snide, which can be dangerous here because it then becomes difficult to separate the narrator from the author. But Scharf only goes to the edge of that precipice without falling in. As such, her narration is perfect for this book because she is the ideal stand-in for its author. R.I.G.
