MY COUNTRY VERSUS ME The First-Hand Account by the Los Alamos Scientist Who Was Falsely Accused of Being a Spy

by | Read by Fred Stella

Biography & Memoir • 6 hrs. • Abridged • © 2001

This is the opposite of a spy story. It's a nonfiction account of how a non-spy is accused but proves his innocence--only after being ill-treated by both the legal system and government agents. Born in Taiwan, Lee was a scientist at Los Alamos National Labs, where he was accused by the FBI of passing on scientific secrets. Fred Stella reads with a slight Asian-American accent, allowing the listener to empathize with Lee's plight. It sounds as if Lee is speaking to the listener. Stella's vocal portrayals of other characters are impressively varied. M.L.C. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 02]
