ROWAN AND THE KEEPER OF THE CRYSTAL

by | Read by Steven Crossley

Children Ages 6+ • 4.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1996

While this is the fourth installment in Rodda's series, the action appears to place it before the third (ROWAN AND THE ZEBAK). This episode sees Rowan and his mother journeying on very short notice to the coastal home of the Maris. These people have a centuries-old relationship with the people of Rin. The Maris are sustained and protected by a special crystal that is entrusted to the care of a "Keeper." While with the Maris Rowan's mother is poisoned by one of the candidates for Keeper, or so it seems. Rowan has to find an antidote, as well as choose the new Keeper, before time runs out. The story is filled with intrigue and suspense, as well as the plot twists that are the hallmark of this series, and Steven Crossley's performance is outstanding. From beginning to end, he is consistent with both character and narrative. M.T.F. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 03]
