THE AMERICAS A Hemispheric History

by | Read by Paul Hecht

History • 6.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2003

The author, an Oxford professor, contends that the history of our hemisphere should be seen from a unified perspective, rather than the history of three separate regions (North, Central, and South America). As interesting as his thesis is, it is not exactly convincing. For example, the author fails to adequately account for the stability of the former British Colonies when compared to the Latin colonies. Paul Hecht is well known for his fine performances. His deep, resonant voice has a confident, authoritative quality that is perfect for this work. M.T.F. (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 04]
