A DRY SPELL

Goodlands, North Dakota, had always represented abundance of crop, family camaraderie, moral citizens and the heartland of America. But something sinister has overcome the prosperity of this farming community, dooming it to bankruptcy, hopelessness and inexplicable, frightening occurrences. Karen Allen portrays Tom Kealey, a drifter and acclaimed rainmaker, as a strange and attractive "magic man," whose services are sought by desperate Goodland banker Karen Grange. Allen reveals the turmoil of a town "gone mad," creating an intense interpretation of the terrified characters. As chaos escalates and the relationship between rainmaker and banker sizzles, Allen is in complete control of her performance, allowing the listener to absorb the drama without losing track of the story.
