Morris's insertion of fictional characters into this memoir has been the cause of much criticism. That this is a great audiobook, however, seems beyond debate. Morris's English/Canadian voice is pleasant to listen to, and he reads with clarity, an even pace, and pathos. Like the written book, this audiobook breaks new ground. A narrator guides one through the abridgment, stating at times that some parts of the book would not translate into the audio format. Most inventive is the use of sound effects to accompany the reading. For example, sirens sound in the background when Morris is describing the assassination attempt on Reagan. M.L.C.
