FAX YOUR PRAYERS

A short interjection of Codrescu's sardonic commentary on NPR provides a welcome diversion to world-weary commuters. In this collection of more than three dozen essays, the listener gets to know Codrescu from several angles--his biting satire, his humanism, his outlandish, futuristic notions. Adjusting to his Rumanian accent as the program goes along, the listener marvels at the superb clarity and command he has of English. Several pieces focus on language, native and foreign. Codrescu is not for everybody, but those who enjoy him will be delighted to have this collection to savor.
