Patrick Moy brings a light Irish brogue to Sean Connolly's account of Irish immigrants' presence and progress around the world. Listeners might know the role Irish immigrants have played in American culture, even if they don't know that GONE WITH THE WIND and the comic strip BRINGING UP FATHER drew on the immigrant experience. However, American listeners might not think about the Irish presence in Argentina very often. Moy captures the humor of employers' frayed relations with Irish maids and the anger in Australian thief Ned Kelly's statements equally well. Much of Moore's narration is functional since there are a lot of facts to dispense about immigration and the Catholic Church. But there are also some great stories here.
