THE WEAVER IN THE VAULT

Smith and H.P. Lovecraft were born within three years of each other, but Smith was the much longer lived. Both wrote about universes in which ancient, cold, and terrible creatures touch the lives of human beings, with forces beyond imagination and horrors that could drive one insane. This short story involves a few characters who trespass on ancient ground and encounter ghastly things. The background music succeeds in running feathers down the listener's spine. Narrator Reg Green effects a hushed, slow-paced basso that makes rising fear the predominant emotion. This is a singularly effective horror story presentation.
