In the 1880s, Preacher Mordecai arrives by train in the Montana town of Sanctuary, where he sees the poverty of the Indians, the cruelty of the rich, and the fanaticism of the town's spiritual leader. As Mordecai teaches kindness and forgiveness by example and helps the downtrodden stand up for themselves, the townspeople are forced to examine their own lives and pasts. L.J. Ganser narrates this production with a quiet intensity appropriate to this story. His portrayal of its characters reflects the qualities of these hard, lawless men of the desolate plains. Svee's story helps illustrate that most good Westerns are morality tales. M.B.K. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 05/ JAN 06]
