The basics are explained clearly, and Amarilla's breathlessly narrated dreams of meeting Infinity, the horse she'll eventually bond with, hint at that future. Mann introduces a story of reincarnations, with horses telepathically passing on wisdom from past lives to guide humans, including listeners, perhaps. Meanwhile, the adult Amarilla hopes to prevent a looming battle with some human creatures. Gray brings an element of wonder to Amarilla's first real-life meeting with Infinity. While the horse's telepathic voice, augmented by an echo effect, may take a little getting used to, listeners will be amused as she renames her person.
