Hatcher's career ups and downs--from being a mermaid on "Love Boat" to a Golden Globe winner and an also-ran at the Emmys--are narrated with humor and chagrin by Deanna Hurst. The abridgment runs smoothly as the memoir moves from small sermons on aging, parenting, and self-respect to accounts of movie star moments, dating, and the challenges of handling success. The entire work is revealing and amusing. Hatcher herself reads the introduction, and her voice demonstrates how well Hurst captures the spirit and tone of her memoir.
