STORM SEASON

This is the slowly evolving story of Burl Drennan's fear of tornadoes and his quest to understand what they're made of. Burl lives in Nortex, Texas, where tornadoes are common and destructive, as is his life as a brakeman in the rural town. Burl wants to leave but cannot escape his family and their troubles. Nick Landrum reads this book in a slow, sonorous voice that is perfect for the slow pace of events. But Landrum never varies his pace, even when a tornado is racing beside Burl's car.
